Where are the masters/avatars of this reality/maya?

Hello Gaia Community: yesterday I saw a post by Julian regarding South Park and Scientology:

Also, one of these days I was watching the news and saw that there is a Puerto Rican man claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus:

It all leads me to conclude various ideas:
1. We as a race, are searching for answers, searching for the "truth", searching for something other than religion that can assure/reassure our humanity and the purpose of being here.
2. The masters/avatars that are in this reality are or have been:
- In hiding?
- Not informing us enough?
- Not believable enough?
Are we tired of listening to so much different paths/beliefs that these have overwhelmed us in such a way that when we listen to a new idea, we become indifferent or laugh at it?
We do have guides that have tried to establish valuable learnings throughout this existence, and I'm beginning to think that if a master/avatar appears upon us at this moment, he/she will either: be laughed at, or not believed in.
As always, this thread is open for discussion. Would very much appreciate your opinion.
